It would be great if we could have the records and not have so many unanswered questions and conflicting Information But I am not sure. I have CCleaner v4. I recently downloaded CC v4. The entire scan usually takes a matter of seconds for me, as I run it regularly to keep clutter to a minimum.
I canceled the scan, closed the program, opened it again which took a long time, and then tried to run it. The problem till persists. When I click on the icon it takes a while for the program to pop up on my screen, whereas it used to pop-up in seconds.
When I ran CC in safe mode, it seemed to run a bit faster. If I let it go it will finish, but it takes longer than usual. Speaking of KIS, I ran a full virus scan, which came up clean. Also, my other programs seem to work fine, it's just CC that's slow.
Please if you will run ccleaner is debug mode I believe the instructions are available at the documents link in my signature. If not they are at the top of the bugs forum, and post the log to this thread.
OK seconds a little over 3 min seems pretty long for 18 mb. The slowest I see is firefox cache, maybe a addon is stopping firefox from properly exiting. Try to exit firefox and look for errant processes usually firefox.
I don't think this is the problem. Sometimes Firefox does fail to close properly, but when this happens CCleaner will show me a message whuile cleaning asking if I want to close Firefox before continuing the scan, and this message did not pop up.
Also, this would not explain the general slowness of the program opening and closing it, etc. Perhaps either malware or malware protection is using up the processor cycles that CCleaner needs. It might be interesting to to launch Windows Task Manager and select the Processes Tab and click on the CPU header so the largest consumers are at the top.
This presupposes that my protection is not actually pausing every CCleaner action whilst it contemplates the wisdom of allowing that action to complete. To err on the side of caution I am runing another virsus scan, this time with my scanner set on High.
This scan will take a lot longer than a normal scan, but I want to rule out malware as a culprit. CCleaber did seem to run faster in safe mode, but I'm still trying to figure out why it is slow outside of safe mode.
Also try cleaning out Internet Explorer from within Internet Explorer first as a test and see if that makes CCleaner any faster. While you may "guess" that firefox or chrome closing is not the issue, I need you to actually check for the sake of troubleshooting.
It does no good to ask help without doing the actual steps needed for crossing off possible causes from a in my head list. I also don't even see an exit in the debug log, did you attach it before exiting ccleaner?

I'd say look through all the KIS log files too just to make sure it isn't flagging anything related to CCleaner. Such as deeming ccleaner. In my last post I mentioned that I was running a full system malware scan. A few minutes later I ran another scan, and this time it cleaned 13MB's in 49 seconds.
Did a third scan minutes later, it cleaned 14MB's in 99 seconds.
